Spring Break '08

We were in route to Panama City, but decided to tone it down and camp for a few nights at Tyler State Park. We got a late start on Wednesday evening which meant we were the annoying campers banging around and setting up in the dark...with an uncharged (aka useless) lantern. As luck would have it, we woke up about 20 mins after bedtime to a flat air mattress and cold, rocky ground! Nice.

The campsite looks cute though!

Phil brought the ol' mountain bikes...which, mind you, I had not really ridden in 6 years. So why not break 'em out in hilly terrain and black diamond-rated trails? After multiple miles of gasping for air (I thought I was in better shape than that...yikes!), we stopped off for lunch.

Yay lunch!!

And then a nap...

Mt. Bike Extravaganza Take Two: Here's Philip at the waterfall (may need to zoom in on the pic). This was the big payoff for the dreaded black diamond bike trail we attacked after lunch and siesta. We opted for the blue trails on the way back...where were my much needed greens, people??

We ended our adventurous day (trust me, it was an adventure!) back at the site, where we read, relaxed, and then enjoyed our campfire dinner.

Our best find on this trip: T-Rex, of course. While searching for kindling, mighty T-Rex appeared by the fire ring. We had to get a pic with him!
